Melissa Singer
Weekend News Director, The Age
Melissa Singer joined Fairfax in 2007, joining the burgeoning Brisbane Times newsroom as news editor. From there, she spearheaded the Queensland edition of The Sun-Herald, before relocating to the Sydney mother ship, where she worked for three years in various roles including chief-of-staff and consumer affairs reporter for the Sydney Morning Herald.
In 2012, home (and AFL) beckoned and she joined the Sunday Age as news editor, then the Age as weekend news director after a major digital restructure in September that year. In this role she oversees content for Fairfax's weekend platforms and coordinates coverage of major events, from elections to the Spring Racing Carnival.
Melissa is a Panpa Hegarty Prize winner and also has a strong passion for food, fashion and travel writing, all of which she contributes across the Fairfax mastheads, including as a reviewer for the Good Food Guide.
